As part of a commitment to community service, a Lieutenant Governor can be honorary patron of, or to, a number of local organizations that help enrich the lives of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Vice-regal patronage derives from the concept of the Crown as the source of the highest honours and awards granted in our society. As the Sovereign’s representative in the province, the Lieutenant Governor helps to recognize the contributions of charitable and non-profit organizations in a variety of sectors to Newfoundland and Labrador communities.
