A Statement from The Honourable Joan Marie Aylward, O.N.L., Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador on the passing of Minister Derrick Bragg

It is with deep sadness that Carl and I learned of the passing of the Honourable Derrick Bragg, Member of the House of Assembly for Fogo Island-Cape Freels.

Mr. Bragg’s dedication to his province and its people, even throughout his illness, was unwavering and deserves to be commended. The impact of his public service was far-reaching and will not be forgotten. It takes great courage and commitment to offer oneself for public office, as families all too often know. Mr. Bragg’s service exemplifies the significance that the role of a member of the legislature plays in support of our constitution.

Carl and I send sincere condolences to Mr. Bragg’s family during this difficult time. On this occasion, the flags at Government House have been lowered to half-mast.

The Honourable Joan Marie Aylward, O.N.L.,
Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador
