Newfoundland Escort Force Commemorative Bell to Reside in Government House

Her Honour was pleased to accept the Newfoundland Escort Force Commemorative Bell on behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador from the Royal Naval Association, Londonberry Branch, Northern Ireland during a ceremony held at Government House September 11, 2018.

The Newfoundland Escort Force was established in 1941. The bell commemorates Allied naval and merchant sailors, and air personnel, who lost their lives between September 1939-May 1945 while maintaining vital supply lines from North America to Europe during the Second World War.

Her Honour was joined by 93-year-old Second World War veteran Arthur Barrett, RCAF Bomber Command Pilot, for the unveiling of the Newfoundland Escort Force Commemorative Bell.
