In 2012, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. A Diamond Jubilee has only been celebrated once before, for Queen Victoria in 1897.
To mark this Diamond Jubilee, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will participate in commemorative activities to honour The Queen’s reign, her service to Canada and our province. The 60th anniversary for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II falls on February 6, 2012, but celebrations and commemorations are expected to take place throughout the year.
