Invitations
Inviting the Lieutenant Governor to your event:
His Honour attends many special events, ceremonies and celebrations throughout the Province. To invite the Lieutenant Governor to your event, please mail a signed letter of request giving as much lead time as possible. Your letter should include:
- Brief background information on the organization, including contact information, and
- Event details, including date, time, location, expected number of participants, and the role you wish the Lieutenant Governor to play at your event.

Messages (Birthday/Anniversary)
Lieutenant Governor
Upon request, the Lieutenant Governor will send birthday/anniversary greeting to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians celebrating birthdays of 80 or more in intervals of 5 years, and to couples celebrating wedding anniversaries of 50 years or more. Messages from The Queen
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sends messages to Canadians who are 100 years of age or older and to couples who have been married for 60 years or more. These are issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General of Canada. For more information visit Governor General Congratulatory Messages. Please note that you will be asked to provide proof of age or length of marriage. Send your request six to twelve weeks before the event to ensure the message arrives on time. Messages from the Queen are mailed two weeks prior to the event
Messages from the Governor General of Canada
The Governor General of Canada sends messages to Canadians who are 90 years of age or older at 5 year intervals and to couples who have been married for 50 years or more at 5 year intervals. To request a message, visit Governor General Congratulatory Messages.
