On Monday, 26 January 2009, at 1:00 p.m., His Honour the Honourable John C. Crosbie, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador and Patron of the Royal Commonwealth Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Her Honour Jane Furneaux Crosbie will attend a Luncheon Meeting of the Society at the Holiday Inn. His Honour will be Guest Speaker and will present a scholarship cheque to Xaiver Campbell, winner of the annual Visiting Commonwealth Student Award.

On Tuesday, 27 January 2009, at 6:30 p.m., The Lieutenant Governor will attend the Official Start and opening lecture of the annual Trudeau Mentors and Scholars Retreat at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m., His Honour will attend the Opening Dinner of the Mentors and Scholars Retreat at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

Wednesday, 28 January 2009

On Wednesday, 28 January 2009, at 12 noon, The Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Crosbie will be guests of the Community Services Council Volunteer Week Committee 2009 at a Luncheon at the Battery Hotel.

At 2:00 p.m., His Honour will participate in the Trudeau Mentors and Scholars Retreat panel discussion “Policy, Research and Social Action - The Case of Newfoundland” at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

At 5:30 p.m., The Lieutenant Governor will be a guest of Dr. Eddy Campbell, Acting President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland, at a pre-lecture Dinner honouring members of the Trudeau Foundation and Trudeau Fellow Dr. William Rees at R. Gushue Hall. Following the dinner, at 7:30 p.m., Mr. Crosbie will attend a lecture by Dr. Rees, “Are Humans Unsustainable by Nature?”, in the INCO Innovation Centre lecture theatre, Memorial University.

On Saturday, 31 January 2009, at 7:00 p.m., The Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Crosbie will attend the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada’s performance of King Lear at the Arts and Culture Centre.
